Great Blogs for Writers

I just received an email from Michelle Vandepas on how to use Amazon as social media (news to me). And I am receiving a lot of good tips from all three ladies below, so maybe I’ll get better at online marketing. Here they are:

Lying VS Laying | Grammar Lesson

The website below is the brain child of Rich Turner, above.

I thought I had the lay of the land with lie and lay, but a while ago I was stuck in a particular sentence and couldn’t figure out what was correct: lying or laying. The dictionary and grammar books were not quite clarifying the matter. So I went to google search and found an enlightening sentence: “If you see something lying on the ground, it is just resting there; if you see something laying on the ground, it must be doing something else, such as laying eggs.” Bingo! Laying requires an action. Lying does not. As soon as I lay the book on the table, it is lying on the table.

Has everyone got this laid? Oops! Anyway here is the link for more on lie, lay, lain and laid: Word and Usage FAQs
