“In response to protest, PayPal reinstates our service!
On Thursday morning, Feb. 24th, Courage to Resist and the Bradley Manning Support Network released a statement “PayPal Cuts Service to Courage to Resist, Bradley Manning Effort”. We did so only after nearly a month of attempting to resolve the impasse with senior PayPal staff.
Hundreds of our supporters responded immediately by contacting PayPal, dozens of major websites highlighted PayPal’s action against us, and over 10,000 people signed an online petition promoted by Firedoglake–all within six hours! By Thursday evening, PayPal relented. There is no doubt whatsoever that this small victory was a direct result of folks like you raising your voice on our behalf. Thank you!
The PayPal issue didn’t affect the primary way we receive donations, and the funds frozen by PayPal were less than $1,000, but we simply couldn’t allow this to happen without making a ruckus.”
